Newest Update

Journal entry by S Cotten

Today we begin the day with the most grateful hearts! The results of Cannon’s end of treatment scans show him to be free and clear of Cancer!

I wanted to make sure and update this page with this huge milestone for anyone who may not follow on Instagram or Facebook.

42 weeks of treatment since last December.
28 times his port was accessed for chemo treatments.
Countless arm pokes and puke bags.
Endless staff of sweet nurses trying to keep him comfortable.

Cannon worked SO hard to get here. The amazing part is that he showed up to the finish line on time which is something we understand to be difficult. Blessed beyond measure are the fighters (and their families) who do not have to delay treatment for fevers, viruses, or their little bodies just not being able to recover from the previous round to move forward. We believe God heard us and answered all of those prayers specifically.

Our team or doctors at children’s allowed us to live as normally as possible within reason, we played by the rules and Cannon spent many 14 day cycles without leaving our house. Worth it.

Our next meeting with the Oncology team will be after the tumor board gathers Tuesday, September 26th to discuss the original spots on Cannon’s lungs and will share their recommendation for an additional round of proton therapy to his lungs.

In the meantime… Cannon is already planning which of his school sports events to go watch this weekend, and hoping Ms Edna in the school cafeteria will make him pancakes for lunch next week at school! (Eating is very hard for him after all of this).

Please continue to pray for wisdom for our doctors as they determine the next steps for Cannon. Our family will be working to “recalibrate” If you will, as we take safe steps to get Cannon back into his normal busy 8 year old routine.
(I’m not freaking out I promise, ok maybe just a little 🫢). We will get there and it’s going to be amazing.

Looking forward to having and being visitors, going places, and doing ALL THE THINGS as a family once again!

God is good. All the time. Especially in the dark when you can’t see for yourself what is going on!

With love,
The McGough Family.

** If anyone has any friends at the Dos Equis venue pls call me. His long awaited Luke Bryan concert is Thursday night.  (Maybe you know him? Haha) If I could get Cannon a better view with some space to breathe I would rest easier knowing that his immune system is still recovering!  (I bought lawn seats last year unsure if we would even make it)
