Candy was such a great person and I am sorry she had to go through all the pain. We remember her as such a positive light in our lives, taken by God way too soon.

“I think therefore I am
See the positive side in people and life will be much easier”

Wise words. That was the advice Candy gave to me almost 20 years ago and I wrote it on a post-it note which still hangs on my kitchen cabinet.

Candy always found the best in others. She was one of the kindest and sweetest people I ever met , a true friend, a person that you know you were blessed and lucky to have known.
Candy was sunshine and spread those positive rays to so many people in so many ways. I am heart broken that she is not here but know she would keep it positive during these difficult days because that is who she was. We love you and Daniel, Evan ,Ted and your parents. Love Chrissy, Dennis, Jack and Alex

I am so sorry Ted. I met Candy only a couple of times, but I know you as a wonderful person and Daniel is such a delight, and that reflects on Candy. My heart goes out to you and your family. Lynn

I am so sorry for your loss. Candy was such a beautiful person. She had a gift for making people feel comfortable... always a smile and a kind word. One of the most positive people I’ve ever known. Sending thoughts of love and healing to you and your family.

When Great Trees Fall

When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.

When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.

When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.

Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.

And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

I just glanced through the other comments and I agree with all of you on all points. Candy was one of the most positive people I've ever known. I can't recall a single time she was pessimistic or negative (in our twenties when we hung out! And in our thirties when we met up a few times!). I will never forget her smile. She had such a zest for living. The world has truly lost one of it's brightest stars today. I'm grateful to have known you, Candy. Ted, Daniel, Evan, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
