Laurie’s Story

Site created on March 21, 2020

*Thank-you for stepping into this chapter of my life. Just another hurdle. Ironically I was a hurdler in high school and college. In every race I was so empowered by those on the sidelines cheering and encouraging. This race is no different, Iam so energized by all the sideline love and care!

January 2020….. a new year….. for me 2020 brought the promise of coming up for air….. I mean real breath!
I filled my lungs with air until it hurt…. and now the long awaited exhale!  CRASH!!! The white crested wave hit .....
-STAGE 4 COLON CANCER- and under she goes. Since January I have found myself in a whirlwind of doctor appointments, procedures, surgery, and now 6 months of heavy chemo. So I have learned you can not stop the waves, but you can learn to surf! So thank you for getting in the waters with me.  I have found the most powerful weapon against daily battles is finding the courage to be grateful anyway. Each one of you have made this exercise effortless, finding reasons to be grateful have been abundant. It is said that good people bring out the good in people. Thank you for bringing out the good in me despite my current circumstances.  On behalf of Myself, Evan and Nate thank you for supporting us while we learn to ride the waves!
In the photo above you will notice a necklace that was given to me after Steve's passing. Engraved on it is this verse.
Isaiah 43:2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. For I am the Lord your God, your savior.

Each week there will be Monday update with a journal entry communicating this journey.  This update will include ways to help our family and how to best support us.
