I love this update. Not because I want you or anyone to struggle or suffer, but because it is so raw and human. None of us can know how good things are unless we also experience the bad and ugly. Only then do we learn to appreciate, even the little things. Pema Chodron is a favorite of mine too. I learned so much from her writings.

She is so lucky to have you as her mom; someone who feels all the things and isn't afraid to open them up and explore them. I appreciate the update and pictures of Callaway. I can’t believe how much she’s grown and at the same time how small all 3 yr olds look in a hospital bed.
Your post reminded me vividly of a story I heard from Brene Brown about Admiral James Stockdale’s survival of horrific conditions in a North Vietnamese prisoner of war camp.
I found this overview of the Stockdale paradox which is a model inspired by his situation and his evaluation of others in the pow camp.
You may find it interesting, especially some of the references to other similar ideas and philosophies.

Late last week, you all came to mind, so I prayed for Callaway and her parents. Thank you for the update. I cannot imagine how hard it all is for you, but I hope you are encouraged to know that others are praying, and cheering for you from afar.
