Calla’s Story

Site created on January 7, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

On January 6th our world got flipped upside down, Our 10 year old Calla was diagnosed with Leukemia. Our kind, sweet and fun loving girl was admitted to Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis to begin treatment. On January 10th Calla had her bone marrow biopsy which came back at 97% cancer and on the 11th she had her first round of Chemo. It’s going to be a long road but we are thankful Jesse was able to take leave from his deployment to be here with us for a few weeks.
On January 22 only 3 days after being released from the hospital Calla was rushed to the ER and admitted to the PICU for a septic infection.
Calla is now in Maintenance therapy but still having some complications from the treatment including her ostomy and AVN.

We sincerely Thank all of you for your prayers. Please keep praying.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Emily Bleed

Callas surgery went great and BOB the stoma is officially GONE!!!
After 18 months Calla no longer has to deal with a ostomy.
Every thing went well, the surgeon was very pleased on how everything had healed up and did some work on removing scar tissue to try to eliminate any stricture that could cause a blockage. Calla is going to have a hard couple days keeping her pain under control and recovering. It will be a few days until she is allowed to eat solid food and the doctors want to take everything extra slow to limit the risk as much as possible.
We appreciate your continued prayers for her smooth recovery 💖
