Caleb’s Story

Site created on June 17, 2020

Welcome to Caleb Snyder's CaringBridge site. Kevin and Cori will use this site to provide periodic updates on Caleb, their 14 year old son. Click the pencil icon above that says journal to read updates.

On Saturday, June 13, Caleb took a fall while creeking and hit his head, necessitating stitches and incurring a concussion. He was recovering at home but on Tuesday, June 16, he started to develop a fever. With the advice of their neighbor who is the head of the ER at Children's Hospital, they took him in. After a CT scan and MRI, it was determined that Caleb has a skull fracture along with a blood clot and an infection. He was admitted on Tuesday night. Please read the journal entries for ongoing updates.

Kevin and Cori are so thankful for God's provision already and so appreciative of all the prayers on their families' behalf. They are trusting God each step of the way and invite you to join the army of prayer warriors who are praying faithfully for healing, for God to orchestrate each interaction with medical personnel, for His hand to guide them through the often confusing array of information and decisions that have to be made, for calm hearts and peaceful spirits for Kevin and Cori as well as Caleb's grandparents, George and Cindy, who are caring for Christian. Most of all, we are praying for God to be honored and lifted up and magnified as He works good in and through each moment.

Journal entry by Cori Snyder

Good afternoon family and friends,

Wonderful news: The blood clot is gone and Caleb is totally healed!!! Praise the Lord! After his 7 AM MRI this morning, Caleb and I were ready to see his neurosurgeon at 9:15 for the results.  We have watched God work His healing power in the past 6 months after Caleb's accident and were ready to put an end to this chapter of 2020. Dr. Leonard walked in and greeted Caleb with "There's rock head!"  We looked at all the scans, asked a few questions and were reassured by the neurosurgeon that Caleb is totally healed.  After Caleb told the doctor that his dad said "Hi," Dr. Leonard said to Caleb, "Well, you are all better after your freak accident and unfortunately, your head is as hard as your dad's."  Caleb got a huge kick out of that comment.

As we put this chapter behind us, we cannot even begin to thank you all for your prayers and support these past 6 months since Caleb's accident on June 13th.  Kevin and I were talking this morning and commented on how it feels more like 6 years ago, until we start to recall the specifics of those 10 days in the hospital.  Although we could not have visitors due to Covid, you were there with us...your calls, texts, emails, cards, gift cards, balloons, cookies, cakes, games, candy, support, love and prayers were with us every step of the way and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As we experience the excitement that comes with Christmas in one week and the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we remember that God is good and faithful and almighty and powerful!!! He has seen us through this trial and we give Him all the glory  in every season.  God is Love! Know that as much as we love all of you, God's love for you is even bigger!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Love to you all,

Kevin, Cori, Caleb and Christian
