Buttercup is still in good spirits. She is drooling over her food and sometimes her doctors. We all love Dr. Raza 😍 😍 😍. Tee said we should pay more attention to what he's saying and less to his good looks :) We have had SEVERAL starts and stops with transitioning to rehab. Most rehabs don't accept patients with trachs and a feeding tubes. We had to figure out where and when we thought everything was all set the rehab reneged.
After a week and half, Mom is still content to be at Karmanos with her new family members. Her nurses are so sweet to her and they say they admire her sweetness and her strength. I was told by front desk downstairs, that she is the most popular patient they've ever had. Buttercup is a like a mini celebrity. She had me send flowers today to her nurses and Tee is holding down construction of a new bathroom on the main floor. I think she will be able to do stairs, but the bathroom will definitely make things easier.
The doctor wants to give Mom another surgery to straighten her face and make it more symmetrical, but we aren't totally sold. It's too soon to even consider. She is tickled looking in the mirror at her new face. I think it gives her character and she is still cute nevertheless. Radiation should start this week and chemo to follow. January has been a sort of funky month for us, but we are celebrating talking, walking and eating. As we head to rehab we ask that you continue to pray for Mom. We will also need your help and vigilance as she heads to rehab at Riverside. February is sure to bring more sweet gains, including coming home!
