Buddy’s Story

Site created on February 6, 2019

Nearly four weeks ago, Buddy had a brain stem stroke. He spent weeks in ICU at Spartanburg Regional and we were told that he would never breathe on his own again... two days later with much prayer, Buddy began breathing on his own. He is currently at Restorative Care undergoing speech therapy and physical therapy. The speech therapist believes he may be able to speak softly after a few weeks but he is not expected to get much, if any mobility back. He is very frustrated because he’s constantly trying to mouth words to us and it’s very difficult to understand. He is cognitively there, just looking around, unable to speak or move. I’m sure it’s frustrating and terrifying at the same time. I will try to keep everyone updated on Buddy as updates are available. Barbara is trying to get back to everybody and be at the hospital and take care of financial things so hopefully this site will help. Pray for a miracle, please.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Danica Huskey

I have not updated much because we have not had any good changes.  Barbara cant reach out to everybody so I am trying to. Buddy is at the point where he can’t process the food that is given to him in the feeding tube. As of this morning, they had to stop the feeding tube. They have started him on morphine and looking to get him into the hospice house. Time is limited. Our hearts are broken. Buddy means the world to Dylan Barbara and I. Please pray.
