I, too, was surprised by your diagnosis. I have read Julie’s books, Bird Watcher’s Digest and listened to your podcasts for years. You have educated and entertained me. My heart is full. I send you love and light.

Hi Bill I don't know what rock I have been living under but I did not know what has been going on with you until I received today's email from BWD about the art work benefit. I then went to Caring Bridge to see the background information. I am stunned not only about your cancer but also about what you have been going through the past few months. You are to be highly commended and respected for your decision to stop the treatment and accept the consequences. We have not spent a lot of time together over the years but the times were good when they happened and I thank you for that. Good reminders about the Doors and good laughs. I will miss you Bill Thompson. Sincerely, Bruce H.

Beautiful words, Wendy and Bill. Dr. Cawley is wise and compassionate. Bill's loving, generous spirit will live on. I fully expect him to be there nudging and guiding birders when they are on the verge of a discovery. A birder's spirit guide. Carl & I send our love.

Dr. Cawley helped a dear friend through her cancer journey more than a decade ago. Bill and his loved ones are in the best possible hands.

Wendy, what an amazing & touching post. Thank you for sharing this journey that Bill and everyone in his life are walking through. Dr. Cawley sounds incredible. Glad she's in the picture. And I ditto what Susie Ruby posted: "Your journey has given me peace and acceptance to whatever I experience involving my passing. Thank you. Blessings to you."

Wendy,
Thanks for your heartfelt comments, which explain so rationally what you, Bill, his family and friends are trying to accept and understand.
Having recently been close to the totally natural death of another friend, may I recommend two very helpful references ... Gone From My Sight - The Dying Experience by Barbara Karnes, RN and The Green Burial Guidebook by Elizabeth Fournier.
Thinking of you all daily, Connie

Wendy, I don't know you personally, I met Julie a few years ago at a conference and again last weekend at the Bluebird conference but I feel like I know you all through this journey. I lost my grandpa years ago to cancer and know just what your going through and what you will experience up to the end, may God give you all, the peace that passes all understanding, strength and comfort that only He can give. Cherish every moment as I'm sure you will and wrap those kids in love as they will need it the most. Blessings to you and your family.

Wendy, I don't know you but that is such a beautiful, honest and heartfelt post. I know Julie and Bill only by their relationship with my cousin there in Marietta. I have so much admiration for you all and if prayer were my way, I would send up all I have. But, I know that if you believe, and only God knows what we will believe at the end of our time here on earth, it will be. Love, light, and mostly, peace to you, Bill, Julie, Phoebe and Liam as you make this final round together.
