Wow, Bill. This post is heroic and gorgeous and brave in a way I've never seen before. So sorry you've been dealt this bullshit hand and are suffering physically and emotionally. I'm so very sorry for your family, friends and loved ones who are are struggling through this with you. Yours is absolutely an example of a life well lived. Your generous and kind spirit will stay with me and so many folks you've inspired and touched. And. For the record. And for you. I still believe in miracles. Take very good care. But please know, that you are loved and your life has had a profound impact and legacy on so many feathered and unfeathered friends. XO

We attended a bird festival at Acadia with you, and your generosity of spirit and deep affection for all things featured was wonderful. We are birders now because of you and this has enriched our lives. Deepest thanks.

The sound of my heart is deafening
There is an echo in the beating
At eighty I am moving west to oldest child.
Nothing is ever finished when everything is up in the air.
If I could give you half the years between us I would.
Finish as much as you can.
Look up to the sun and smile
And know so many care.....

Bill, sitting here in a state of shock. I had not realized your situation. I certainly didn't know it when I gave you that birthday shout-out. (But I remain glad that I mentioned your Alfalfa impression! ) You are handling this with such courage, focus, and peace. Clearly, the decisions you've made are right for you and your family. All this has gotten me remembering how admired you were at Ogilvy. In addition to your natural abilities in PR, you were just so hard not to like. You had a great, fun energy that was impossible to resist. I'm glad that has continued over the decades. Wishing you lots of strength and music, my friend.
