Journal entry by Krista Pierce

Bryan is continuing to heal from surgery and is doing remarkably well. He is doing some light exercising, such as walking/hiking, easy stationary bike riding, light yard work, etc. Because he is progressing so well it is easy to forget sometimes that his body has gone through such trauma physically, but there are definitely reminders that cause him to pull back and slow down.

One area with challenges that he is still struggling to navigate is his diet. Over the past several days we have introduced fiber back into his meals. We are still working to find the right balance of foods that will not cause irritation or discomfort. We are still trying to manage getting him the proper nutrition, quantitatively and qualitatively, in a way that his body can tolerate.

My sickness has finally dissipated, with an occasional cough here and there. We are so thankful that no one else in the family has been affected. We have been praying, especially, that Bryan would be untouched by it, as the coughing surely would strain and complicate his healing.

Bryan has begun to cautiously reengage work. He has been extremely thankful for the elders, deacons, and staff of the church. They have managed the shift to online services and all the other adjustments that have been required. I am proud of Bryan for his patience and trust during this time, as I know that there has been an especially strong pull to jump back in during this period of extraordinary need. He plans to be back preaching and offering devotionals soon.

Thank you all for continuing to check in. We have been so appreciative of your prayers and support!
