Hi and welcome to our website to advocate for Bruce Clark formerly from Iowa, currently residing in West Hartford, CT. As you may know, Bruce is looking for some incredibly kind and generous person to step up and be living kidney donor. We will briefly explain what the process of being a living donor entails.
After an initial successful phone interview with the transplant clinic at Yale/New Haven, a potential donor will continue with medical and psychological assessments conducted by phone and/or near where the individual lives. We are never given names of any potential donors; it is all anonymous. When a donor is identified, that person will be brought to Yale for the procedure, with hospitalization generally just a few days. The donor will then be allowed to return home for a continued recovery for usually 2-4 weeks. That person will then return to normal life with 1 fully functional kidney. If for any reason the donor needs a kidney transplant in the future, that individual will be put at the top of the list to receive a transplant. It is anonymous, no commitment required, and all of this is at no expense to the donor.

Over the weekend we learned that 1 of the 3 potential donors who got through an initial screen was disqualified, a second put on hold, and a third is undergoing some secondary evaluation. Bruce also got about 500 views of his "story" at the DONOR website https://www.thedonorapp.com/bruceclark/dr/p/a. We hope to hear from Yale if we have increased our pool.
