Bruce’s Story

Site created on October 21, 2021

November of 2018, I began experiencing stomach pain and feeling more tired than normal. Went for a general checkup, bloodwork, and physical. Doc informs me, everything looks great. Problem is, I didn’t feel great. After more tests, I eventually learn I have cancer. And so, our cancer journey began...

We so appreciate all the prayer, love, support, and words of hope and encouragement we’ve received from so many along the way. Now, we welcome you to Bruce's CaringBridge website. We will be using this site in hopes of doing a better job of keeping family and friends updated in one place.

Please know it's not our intent to replace our personal contact with this site but rather simplify the communication with you all.

Journal entry by Amy James

Thank you for all the loving and compassionate comments, texts and messages you've sent. We feel the love.

I know many are wondering and some have asked about a service. Bruce and I discussed this well in advance when we learned things were immanent.

When I asked Bruce about celebration of life preferences this was his response, "You know Amy, if that's what you need that's OK; but I am going to be with Jesus. I'll be at the best party." We looked at each other and smiled and after several seconds of pause I responded, "I don't think anything I could do would top that."

After that he shared that he wanted his ashes spread by the kids and I in the Eastern Sierra's. As you likely know, that was our stomping grounds. So, we will do that perhaps in the late spring or early summer.

What the kids and I plan to do is to have an extensive memorial video produced which we will share. Perhaps I'll establish an event so we can watch simultaneously then leave a link so that whoever wishes is able to download a copy for themselves.  Working on it...
