Brooks’s Story

Welcome to Brooks Henderson’s CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and words of hope and encouragement.

Brooks was admitted to North Memorial Maple Grove ICU on November 8, 2021 with COVID pneumonia. Each day in the hospital became more difficult for him and his ability to breathe on his own became more of a battle. Brooks was transferred to North Memorial Robbinsdale where amazing specialists are able to monitor him and give him the care that critical COVID patients require. Unfortunately, the decision was made to place him on a ventilator in hopes of giving him the rest he needs and his lungs a chance to heal. He remains in the ICU fighting to recover.

As you can imagine, this has been difficult for so many of us who love Brooks. We have not been able to see the him since he was admitted - other than a 10 min. Zoom call before he was intubated. COVID has left me with so many questions as you can imagine, or may be aware of personally, like why him? How long are we looking at for recovery? What more can I do? How do we move forward each day? Will he still have a job? Why did I ever think high-deductible insurance was a good idea? How will I cover all of these bills on one income? And so many more…

I will use this page to give updates each day. I speak with his Dr. each afternoon and the nurses when they have a chance. They are all so busy and tired and I’m thankful beyond measure. My daughter started a GoFundMe page (https://gofund.me/5a59ef84 (https://gofund.me/5a59ef84 )) to help with our hospital expenses. If you are unable to donate, please pray or send thoughts for his recovery…it’s all that matters right now.
