Newest Update

Journal entry by Brittany Bartunek

Hello Everyone!

I’ve come with the greatest news. I have officially completed 8 rounds of Chemotherapy! Yay Yay Yay Yay!

Yesterday, someone finished their rounds of chemotherapy before mine and the nurses loudly sang them an upbeat song. Not much different than a birthday song at Chilis. As lovely and thought as that is, I quietly asked if I could skip the song, but still ring the bell. I rang that bell and received an achievement certificate!

Yesterday was also national nurse appreciation day, as well as, this month specifically oncology nursing appreciation month. I wrote the nursing staff a very heart felt thank you card and brought them donuts to celebrate. They have done so much and have offered some of the most helpful advice during chemotherapy.

Now, I go get the Udenyca injection and a hydration IV. Spend the week recovering from that. I get my port removed on May 22. Then spend hopefully a few months or more recovering from neuropathy and start the next chapter of treatment… Radiation. Not to mention my hair should start growing back in a generous amount weeks!

Outside of cancer recovering i’ve been getting the hang of water coloring and have broke open another puzzle.

Some lovely people gave me some bouquets with “firework flowers” (not official flower name) to celebration completing chemo. I also received some thoughtful texts and I can feel you all celebrating with me. Just like the nurses, I swear I could not have done this with out the loving community of family and friends around me. So thank you. Thank you for the meals, the cards, the treats, the donations, the flowers, the prayers, the good vibes, and keeping me in your minds through out these last couple of months. I’m very excited to close this chapter and hopefully never open it ever again. Thank you chemo for hopefully stopping the spread of any cancer cells, but goooooooood riddance!

Have a wonderful week,
Brittany the chemotherapy conquering  Barbarian
