Newest Update

Journal entry by brittany carmichael

Hi All!

I know it's been quite some time since I have made any journal updates. Things have been pretty stagnant.

** fast forward**

My wonderful Aunt Cindy gifted me with a consultation/second opinion for my medical diagnosis through 2nd MD. This outlet offers expertise opinions from doctors all over the world specializing in many different areas (cancer, diseases, condition, etc). A few weeks ago I signed up and was immediately connected with a nurse who paired me with an Oncologist she felt was was a good fit. During out video consultation, this doctor went over all my medical tests/results with me and talked about his insights and what his plan of action would be if he were my treating physician.

I have attached a screen shot of what his concerns are, his thoughts on my diagnosis and what he feels is the right plan of action. (much easier than typing it all out).

After the consultation I was a bit concerned. Mainly because I have not been feeling the great (constant headaches, body aches, fatigue) and he came from a different perspective that I had not yet heard. Overall this is just so scary because waiting too long could risk my cancer turning super aggressive and who knows what would happen from there. He expressed that once the cancer "transforms," the road to remission is undeniably ugly. YIKES! So here i am, sitting shocked and confused. Do i push my oncologist to do treatment? I do value my doctors advice so do i just go by his word? Not starting treatment right away has some risks but also starting treatment does too! there is no right answer!

I decided to just send over the second opinion consultation to Doctor Herrera to see what he thinks and then will discuss with him further at my July 10th check up, as well as see how my blood is looking.

I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer and I will back back with an update after my appointment :)
