Brian’s Story

Site created on June 23, 2018

Devastatingly, Brian Preston (Tara's husband) found out yesterday afternoon (6/22) that his liver biopsy tested positive for cancer. They are not sure where the cancer started. There is also a tumor causing bad nerve pain in other areas. He has an appointment this coming Monday (6/25) with an oncologist to discuss next steps.

Sometimes life just sucks - cancer, you really suck! Faith and love are what we have right now and that's what the entire Preston family needs (HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THE GIRLS ARE NOT AWARE OF DETAILS YET). If you would like to share some love to their family in a very practical and helpful way please sign up for this meal train:   https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/8d4zr2

More importantly, please pray for their comfort and strength. It isn't going to be a fun road, but with loving friends and family it sure will make things better.

Right now, Tara and Brian both need to take this all in...so please hold off on phone calls.  A text to Tara is best but please know she may not respond right away.  She is obviously very overwhelmed but very thankful for everyone's love and support.

As we learn more after Monday's additional testing we will post again.

Thank you!

Mark Johnston (Tara's brother)

The below post is from Tara...

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the OUTPOURING of love, support and generosity our family has received over the last year.  We have been incredibly blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

We are so grateful for everything big & small – from meals, to watching the girls, to sending texts & cards letting us knowing you’re thinking of us, for the many prayers …..and EVERYTHING in between.   We are so thankful, and appreciate everything more than words could ever say.

We are still heartbroken and devastated that Brian is no longer with us.  We have SO many special memories over the years, and we’re trying our best to remember the good times.

I have so many of you to get back to at some point, but I’m focusing all of my attention and time on Kiley & Ella right now.  I had to let so many of you help with them for a year, while I was taking care of Brian, but now I need to be there for them.  We appreciate the texts letting us know you’re thinking or praying for us.  It means more than you will know.

Thank you to so many of you for coming to Brian’s visitation and/or funeral.  It touched our hearts to be surrounded by so much love during those days.

I have many others to thank personally, but I wanted to thank one person here.  Thank you to my amazing brother, Mark, for being my voice on CaringBridge, and for writing every other post when I didn’t have the strength – physical or emotional.  It’s been an extremely difficult time for our family, ever since Brian was diagnosed last June, but I will be forever thankful to Mark for keeping family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and many others updated.   I’ll never be able to thank you enough Mark, but I hope you know how much you are appreciated.

We miss Brian dearly, but we’re doing our best to be thankful for all the many special memories we shared together as a family.

With so much love & appreciation,

Tara, Kiley & Ella
