Newest Update

Journal entry by Christine Burnes

Its kinda hard to believe 35 treatments happened since the beginning of September.

Its been exhausting for mom and dad, with putting this new routine in play. It's a lot of paperwork, and the same questions, every single day. Every.Single.Day.

Brianne is a rockstar- and has gained some celebrity-like status when she's in their care, everyone knows them. Beanie is understandably tired at these appointments, it's early; she'll get a lil nap in (sometimes dad too) while they wait, but the one thing she has stayed constant with is her great attitude and her smile. Every day I come to see her she's excited to see me, she looks forward to upcoming events on the calendar ("I'm gonna be a poodle skirt girl and my sister's gonna be a kitty..."- and then mom has to finish the statement "... for halloween") and we are still listening to our jams, but we've been having some quieter moments where I get to give her a lil face massage and then she'll rest her eyes. I can't imagine what this has all been for her. And she doesn't complain. Like, ever.

In the next couple weeks, I know everyone will enjoy getting back to their normal-er routine. Beanie will be able to sleep in a bit! Brianne still has follow-up appointments with an array of doctors, but the spacing between appointments is more manageable. I know the ladies at Caribou have missed seeing her, and I'd like to get a car wash- Bean always helps with that. "I'll go with you" is the phrase most commonly said, and I find myself trying to plan washing my car around hanging out with sister. It makes her feel good to help out, and I know I have missed our silly car errands over these 2 months.

So now what?
That is a very good question. We wait.
Wait and see if the radiation treatments worked.
I know right? Waiting is the worst. I was hoping this was a bit more immediate, but she doesnt go back for another MRI until January. So in the meantime, keep her in your thoughts and prayers, and she's gonna keep living her life to the fullest. She's awesome, and I'm so glad she's here with us.

This pic was from today- look at that smile.
