Journal entry by Robin Bueche —
After eight and one-half weeks of infection and surgeries, Brian was finally released from the hospital!!! He endured:
Prostate infection
Urinary tract infection
Gallbladder removal
Infected back muscle and excision
Gluteal and hip muscle infection and excision
Discectomy
Triple laminectomy
Torn medial meniscus
We are trained to administer his IV antibiotics, which continue through the end of February. He goes to one of his orthopedic surgeons Monday to get Monovisc injected in his knee for the torn meniscus. If that doesn’t help ease the knee pain, he could be looking at another surgery since we don’t want that knee to start giving out and present a fall risk.
He is walking with the walker around and around the interior of the house, and goes to the kitchen table to eat. He sleeps in the den in his hospital bed and has already had some visitors. I can see him making great rehabilitative progress at home. He hasn’t seen the sun or his friends in two months and he is motivated!
This is our final post unless something else happens. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the cards and letters and calls, and most of all, for your prayers. They got us through this and brought my baby home. Come see us!
Love you all.
Robin
