Journal entry by Jamie Olson

Hello everyone,
I know it's been a few days since a post has come through, I just wanted to share with you all that we were finally able to celebrate Christmas today, at home.

It feels like a lifetime ago when Christmas was officially on the calendar.  I said to Bret tonight, this is the first time in my life that Christmas has ever been postponed.  The birth date of our Saviour has never changed, but this is the first time that, as a family, we chose to wait, until Bret could be home with us to celebrate.  It wasn't the pizza, or the gifts, it was the company.  It didn't feel like a holiday, it felt like LIFE, like home.

Our lives have been busy since Bret got home.  We have had the amazing opportunity to have family with us, to share meals, smiles, and just love.

We are completely blessed with amazing "young people" like Justin, Tiffany, Jenny and Josh, not to mention Alex, who all know what we need when we need it.  Sometimes the "help" turns into a laugh, but it is still the effort and try that matters.

I recently had a friend reach out to me, asking what they needed to know about helping their family member get through a really tough bout with this evil disease.  I shared with her everything I could remember, and everything I know about the battle.

I want everyone to know that what Bret has gone through has taught both of us a lesson, which is to "LIVE".  Life is short, and full of surprises, and tragedies.   We have to make a choice, "get busy living, or get busy dying".  We choose to live, and to live without fear.  God has brought us through, what I feel is the biggest test of our lives.  As I told the doctors, their science is not absolute.  If "this piece of your equation changes, you need to re-calculate your rationale" I asked how they could expect me to trust their science.  I explained to them that I would and will choose to trust the only absolute that I know, which is God Almighty.  To some of you, this may be surprising, or even questionable, I want to reassure you, God is who healed Bret, and God is who allowed Bret to come home to us.

I will leave this here.

I pray that God will bless you completely, and that you will allow God to bless you.

All my best,

Jamie
