Newest Update

Journal entry by Danielle Koster

Hello all,

There have been some major updates regarding Brent's treatment plan since our last update and we would like to share with everyone interested.

Last Tuesday, Brent had his monthly meeting with his oncologist regarding his treatment and his tumors. The doctor shared that the immunotherapy trial Brent was previously on had stopped being effective upon reviewing the results of his most recent scan and blood work. Seeing as he was the last one in Mayo Clinic left on this trial, we had some indication this may have been coming. This previous treat did bring down Brent's cancer antigen levels from 50 to 20. They did rise to 24 before they took him off of this trial. Following this, his levels dropped down to 22. This is all in the normal range for a person, which is 0-35. Below is an image of Brent's overall antigen levels from the start of his journey until now. Because of this, Brent had 2 new lesions appear in his liver. Now, these growths are extremely small. They are unable to even measure one of them. Nonetheless, they are still there.

Due to this change in events, the oncologist and the rest of Brent's team decided to discontinue the previous immunotherapy trial and switch to a new treatment. This new treatment is mix of 2 chemotherapy medications Brent has previously been on and an immunotherapy medication he has not been on before. He will be beginning this Friday, December 15. He will be returning to his schedule of one day a week for 2 weeks straight of treatment with 1 week off. Brent is looking forward to experiencing the wonderful side effects that chemotherapy has to offer and is very thankful that he had a great summer off to enjoy all the things he loves doing (being outside, motorcycle rides, taking care of the Mustang).

Don't feel too bad for Brent's upcoming side effects, he recently bought a GINORMOUS TV that he is looking forward to using as he rides out his post treatment times.

As always thank you for all your love, prayers, well wishes, good vibes, and a hope that the force is with us.
