Brandon’s Story

Site created on November 24, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

On November 23rd, 2021, Brandon was doing what he does best, living his life to the fullest. He was motocross racing with his best friend, his dad, in Texas. Then, unexpectedly, he crashed his bike and was airlifted to a hospital in Texas. He has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and is currently intubated. Suddenly, the fragility and meaning of life became more real. Unfortunately, we do not know what the following days are like that lie ahead, but currently, we are praying and ask you to pray for a miracle. He is surrounded by the company and comfort of his closest family during this time.

We appreciate everyone reaching out; however, please understand we may not get back to everyone. The love and support flowing from our home community, Watertown (all the way to Texas), is staggering. As hard as this is—and it is the hardest thing we have ever endured, it would be unimaginable without your love, prayers, and positive thoughts for Brandon’s recovery. Each one of you is helping us become the warriors needed to fight alongside our son, brother, and friend. Tell others often how much you love them, and try never to take anyone for granted.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lexi Reichling-Hartness

Three hundred and four days is the equivalent of ten months. 10 months ago today, our world flipped around; however, more than anyones, Brandon’s world flipped around. Although each day has been a battle that isn’t always easy, Brandon continues to push through and never give up. As each new day approaches, the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting closer.

The progression B continues to make has not slowed down in the slightest. WOOHOO!!🎉 From relying on a wheelchair to walking on his own, significant strides of improvement are being made. B, the long hours of time and dedication you are putting into both rehab and the gym are paying off! Although, I am getting a little nervous, your exercise longevity is going to be better than all of ours with all the endurance training you are doing! Watch out!

Additional to the continued hours of hard work put in each and everyday, B got some new glasses about a month ago. Not only have the glasses drastically improved his vision; however, they have improved his balance, which in turn, has improved his walking.

Between rehab, the gym, and appointments, Brandon continues to enjoy his time spent at home with family and friends. Each day is becoming easier with time, and his sarcasm and wit is like the accident never happened. B, your laugh and smile, through this all, is such an inspiration to myself and so many others. Although this journey doesn’t make sense, God has a purpose for all this pain.

Brandon, you continue to amaze and impact so many of us, even if you don’t realize it. May you continue to give your all, and give yourself the grace you deserve. You have climbed mountains and endured more than most do in their lifetime. You are a miracle, and we are all beyond grateful to have you in our lives! We love you!❤️

**We continue to be thankful for everyone that continues to pray, think, and ask about Brandon. This journey and miraculous recovery could not be possible without your continued support and prayers. God is good.
