Brandon’s Story

Site created on April 23, 2018

On April 8th Brandon was diagnosed with a high grade Glioblastoma tumor. He underwent three surgeries to relieve pressure from his brain in hopes to regain his eyesight. We believe some of his pressure has been diminished because he is no longer complaining of extreme headaches however his eyesight is still limited.

On Friday April 20th, Brandon was moved from University of Cincinnati Medical Center to Drake Rehabilitation Center. They will be working with him on his physical, speech, and cognitive skills.

Brandon has already started on a chemotherapy pill and he began 15 rounds of radiation starting today,  Monday, April 23rd. He will be transported daily from Drake to UC for radiation.

We are grateful that he is eating well. However, his immune system is low due to his chemotherapy meds. Please check with family prior to any visits.

Thank you to everyone that has kept  Brandon in your prayers. Please continue. We are so grateful knowing that he has touched so many lives. He continues to make us laugh even through this nightmare. A nightmare that he really doesn't comprehend. God sure has blessed us with him and continues to do so.

Thank you again for the prayers. We will update as time permits. God Bless!

Journal entry by Sarah Smith

Hey everyone! Brandon is home in case you were all wondering.

He will continue to go to radiation daily. He has 5 days left. Hopefully, at that point we will know a little more about how the tumor is looking. He also continues to take the chemo pill.

Physical therapy will continue. He is up walking (with help) and he has been going a little further each day. He is not getting up and moving on his own yet. He can hold things now, take seated showers, and he brushes his own teeth. All of this is progress.

Brandon still has a healthy appetite and I know both he and momma are looking forward to home cooked food.
