Brandon’s Story

Site created on June 3, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Brandon had gone in for a routine checkup and three days later he has major surgery to remove several cancerous tumors in his brain. You never see it coming. The pathology report reveals that he has Glioblastoma, the worst possible, non-curable brain cancer. Brandon Barr is just 46 years old. He was on vacation with his family just two weeks ago, enjoying waterfalls in Oregon. But now his infectious grin and surly voice resembling a lion cub at play, may soon be extinguished, leaving a gaping hole in the fabric of his loved ones. He is doing well recovering in rehab but he has a long fight ahead.

Journal entry by Randi Scholtes

As many of you know Brandon has been in hospice care for two weeks now. He is comfortable and Keano, Amber, Krew and myself are just trying to make it as peaceful of a transition as we can.  He doesn't have his phone and can no longer use the phone, but I have been reading him messages from people and I let him know that he is very loved and that people are sending their prayers.  I don't have much else to report now as things could really change quickly at any time and then I would let people know as soon as I am able to.  We will be having a celebration of life for him at a later date once everything has calmed down a bit.  This have been a long almost three year fight and it is very difficult to see him lose this battle. I appreciate everyone's kind words, support and of course the gofundme donations are helping with the expense of his hospice care.

Best,

Randi Scholtes (Brandon's wife)
