Bradley’s Story

Site created on November 2, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Brad was diagnosed with liver cancer in the summer of 2017. He received Therasphere Y90 treatment 11/28/17. The treatment was effective in slowing down the tumor growth and significantly reducing the tumor marker count in his blood initially.
Since that treatment, he started taking Nexavar, a chemotherapy drug, to continue to slow down the tumor growth. Doctors have described his cancer as "stable" as a result of the Nexavar. The chemo side effects are significant, which has resulted in reducing the dosage below the therapeutic recommended dose.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Krystin Sankey

We haven't posted an update in a while because the cancer has been stable! Dad has continued to receive monthly immunotherapy (opdivo) and his tumor marker has stayed in normal range since Feb.

His appetite has returned to normal and he has minimal side effects from the immunotherapy, which mostly is just drowsiness and low energy some days.

In other great news- Dad quit smoking in April!! He jokes that he's more short of breath and gained weight but he smells better and saves a lot of $$.

He turns 60 on November 6 and we are hoping to have a lunch party to celebrate!

Thanks for your continued thoughts and support!
