Journal entry by Claire Learned —
Bonnie Reese has been in cancer remission for many years after a pulmonary lobectomy. A recent episode of arm pain turned out to be a metastasis. A new drug for late stage lung cancer was given in late July. The first treatment caused extreme headaches, nausea and vomiting. Bonnie has suffered from migraines for many years but this headache was the worst and relentless. In despair she was admitted to Florida Hospital Altamonte where she continued loosing weight and endured multiple drugs that left her drowsy and confused but still in pain and unable to eat without coughing and vomiting. She checked out of hospital thinner and sicker. She has pleaded with God to let her die . She dreams of meeting her little son and husband Ron Reese in heaven. She dreams of "being on Retreat" with them. She is now at home with family and getting help from Hospice. She has asked for no visitors but appreciates prayers. She talks about her many friends and longtime supporters and sends her love and compassion.
