Bonita’s Story

Site created on April 4, 2021

Hi everyone, most of you already know me but I thought I would introduce myself, I am Bonita’s granddaughter Lilly, I have decided to create this caring-bridge to fill everyone in on the recent happenings in my grandmas life. On Monday, March 22, gram went in for a MRI to check and make sure there was nothing going on in her carotid artery in her neck. While they were looking through the MRI scan, they noticed multiple tumor like spots on her brain. They decided they were going to take a second MRI to make sure that the first wasn’t a fluke and if there was actually something in her brain. They noticed 4 large cancerous tumors in various spots of her brain. The doctors couldn’t tell her exactly what it was but they told her that she needed to see a neurologist/neurosurgeon to learn more in depth of what this meant. Wednesday, March 31st, gram and I made our way to see her neurologist/neurosurgeon next to Regins Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While there, we were able to find out more about the spots on her brain and what they most likely are. Her neurologist told us they are cancerous tumors and a very likely chance of being something called Glioblastoma. He informed us that this was a very serious condition and that this is something that should not be taken lightly. As of now, we are waiting to learn more. On April 12, I will be taking grandma in for a brain biopsy to find out 100% what these tumors are and if they are curable. Grandma has reached out to most family members about the matter but I know their are some family and friends who would like updates. I will be posting updates whenever anything new is learned. Thank you everyone for your help and love during this difficult time, it is greatly appreciate.

Here’s an update on gram,
She has been good, no more confusion. She has started chemo and radiation to try and keep the tumors stable. She can no longer drive so we are relying on friends and family to take her to her radiation appointments every day in new Richmond.  If you would like to plan a visit to see gram, let me know! Thank you everyone for your support during this crazy & difficult time. We appreciate it greatly❤️
