Hi all,
Sorry for no update last night. I was just too exhausted and had to coordinate the pick-up of my remaining two horses, Bonnie Bee and General. So maybe I just needed some time to deal with that.
But also, there was no new news to share, except that the spinal tap was done yesterday. Bob went through it well. The test to verify the neuro-sarcoidosis will take a few days for results, but they did see white blood cells in the spinal fluid and the neurologist working at the Manhattan hospital said that was an indication of inflammation in the central nervous system. So that goes along with all that's been going on with Bob's body.
I talked to Bob this morning and they are going to let him come home today. (he's a happy camper and I'm scared to death!) We have been waiting for a bed at KU MED and Bob was told by someone that knows a nurse that works at KU that an empty bed lasts about 23 minutes there...so I'm sure there is always someone in the Emergency Rooms that get's every room that opens up.
They are sending Bob home with the prednisone and some Prilosec-like med to help protect his stomach from the high doses of prednisone. We are also setting up PT and OT to help him strengthen his body.
I'm waiting on a call back from the new KU new doc, Dr. Hamblin, to see if this is okay for Bob to come home and try to find out when we can get an appt. to see him...I think somebody must have dropped the ball because we were supposed to get a call from them by Wednesday...I should have called yesterday, I guess, but I just kept assuming since the they wanted Bob at the hospital in KC that we'd be getting that call. So....I'm making calls.
Due to several comments about people not getting notices when I make a post on Caring Bridge, I'm going to set up an email list, (BCC:) and start sending updates via everyone's email, so please take note!
Also, if possible, please don't respond to us via a Facebook message, PLEASE just hit reply to the email, so that we can quickly and easily get your replies. Sorry, we are not having good luck with facebook on our home computer.
