Bob’s Story

Site created on April 19, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

For the last year and a half Bob was seeing his doctor and being treated for stomach problems. The doctor had done some tests and had changed medications but the pain worsened. A CAT scan was finally ordered at UNC on March 25th. On March 27th, we learned Bob has pancreatic cancer that has metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes.

Journal entry by Jim and Mary Maas

Bob and Gayle have been visiting with family for the last 4 weeks, but hope to be in class on Sunday!

Currently they are visiting Bob's sister and Gayle's aunt in Pennsylvania. Usually they travel in comfort with their camper, but left it at home this time. Consequently they are sleeping on inflatable mattresses. (Here, Gayle would prefer you not try to imagine how she rolls out of bed in the morning onto the floor, just to be able to say she is up!) 😂 😆
They have enjoyed seeing family but as you can expect, they are happy to be on the way home.

Current prayer request: Bob has developed neuropathy in his hands due to the chemotherapy. Because of this, the doctor has asked them to consider a different "chemo cocktail."  They are seeking wisdom because they are concerned a different mix will not be as effective at holding the cancer at bay. Do they live with the neuropathy or risk a different treatment? They are asking God for wisdom and ask you join them in this prayer.

As always. Bob and Gayle send their love, and are so grateful for your prayerful support.
