Journal entry by Bob Biggs

Hello Friends,

Since our last journal entry we have been anxiously awaiting the results of my Sept. 30 bone marrow biopsy to determine if we had any more cancer cells in my blood and bone marrow as well as the development of my donor stem cells. We received the results today and I am happy to report there were no cancer cells at all and my blood system has been taken over 100% by my donor cells. This basically means I am cancer free and although the new donor stem cells do not have to compete with my old cells which can cause graft/donor disease (a common outcome of bone marrow transplants when the new cells are not at 100%) I will still be on immunosuppressant drugs for at least 8 months until the donor cells are completely self sufficient and provide complete immunity. All in all this is about as good an out come as we could have asked for. I continue to get stronger every day and alternate between walking and bike riding every day. I even hit some golf balls on the driving range today and boy did that feel good. I want to again thank each and every one of you as your support and concern have been a constant reminder of how lucky we are to have such wonderful friends. We look forward to seeing all of you in the not to distant future when we can enjoy each others company without the constant reminder of the Covid crisis we are living in. Until then we will social distance, wear masks and sip wine through an improvised mask with a straw.

All our best Amigos and Amigas
Bob/Diane
