Blake’s Story

Site created on November 2, 2020

Hi Everyone, Our journey began earlier in the year when I was diagnosed with AL-AMYLOIDOSIS. This is a rare and aggressive disease/cancer that attacks the Kidneys, Heart, Nerves, and lungs. It is incurable, but I am fighting it as aggressively as we can. I have been undergoing Chemotherapy weekly since September. I had a few weeks off from CHEMO as My Wife and I both tested Positive for COVID-19 in early October. I spent 3 nights and 4 days in hospital with pneumonia from it, and fortunately, My wife was able to fight it from home. As of late October I have resumed CHEMO and we have recovered from the CORONA VIRUS. We are now on the road to a BONE MARROW TRANPLANT later this year.

Hello Everyone!  I'm Back!!

TODAY, 1 year ago, Jolene and I were in Milwaukee having my central line implanted for the Stem Cell transplant.  This was probably one of the scariest moments in our life.  I remember the uncertainty the overwhelming anxiety I had and I'm positive Jolene was feeling.  I can't even believe it today!  I still think about it from time to time, but most of it has been forgotten about over the year.  Over this past year Jolene has had to take on every aspect of our life.  From daily chores to all the little things I do while juggling her own career and all the things she normally does.  She made it through!!  My employer Sadoff E-Recycling has had my back through this entire process as well.  Without my job security and the extra understanding from my Boss and the Owners,   You guys, thank you for seeing me through this...    From the donations from people through Go Fund Me and beyond, and all the Prayers from everywhere, to the continued support and encouragement from the nurses at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center,  we made it through this 1 day at a time.

Here we are today, no Chemo since transplant, no crazy biopsies anymore, and no prescription meds...   I just did a PET scan (Full Body Cancer screen) this past weekend for a 1 year follow up.  We will get the results from that in January and hopefully will be able to report back the results of every other test I've done in the year, being CANCER FREE.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART and Happy Holidays!!

Love to All,
Blake
