Dear Friends,
It has been quite a while since I have posted any health updates, but remember, I am a Baby Boomer, and it is not my strong suit.
Janice and I were waiting on the plethora of tests taken from my bone marrow biopsy. The doctor called a week ago in the evening
to say that the marrow was clear of cancer, and that 99.5% of my cells / DNA are from my German donor. I got a booster from him in December.
This is very good news. The goal now is to keep the leukemia at bay; one gets more privileges over time; a year, then two, and so on.
I am so grateful for my wife Janice, who has been an outstanding caregiver and supporter. AML would be tough to take on alone.
I am also grateful for my German donor. My December procedure had to be him, the same person. It took two weeks to find him.
But the procedure was easy, same day, home for dinner. My next goal is to re-build the muscle I lost. There is no way around that.
I'm making the most of every day, and will return to athletics in the coming months. I get my dangling Hickman port out soon which is a great start.
Enjoy every day, love your family, and be kind to others.
