Newest Update

Journal entry by Bri Steilberg

The last few days have been so hectic that I’m just getting here for an update.
Bj is HOME and hanging in there. We had a three hour doctors appointment on Friday that still leaves us a bit dizzy. Essentially it is going to be a very long road for recovery. He got established with a PCP and has many appointments in the coming two weeks (from home health to OT to scans and bloodwork with new doctor visits tucked in between). He still sounds pretty bad, but being home makes me feel enabled to accomplish anything!
More than anything I know this much. We could not be getting by without so much help from everyone. My synagogue and friends have been bringing us fantastic food and supplies. My neighbors do everything from coming over to help walk me through all the new diabetic injections, meals, etc. to delivering home needs and things for the kids.
A group of our close friends came together and made us the ultimate care boxes (including all sorts of diabetic friendly supplies to gifts, etc). It has really been a humbling experience for both of us to know how much we are supported. It is hard to accept help, so those we love have thrust at it at us ready or not! I half hope to be able to pay forwards all the love and care on day, while simultaneously hoping no one is ever in this position. Thanking each of you does not even do justice for what you have brought to us. There is no amount of gratitude that I can articulate that begins to cover how we feel knowing that we have such an amazing village holding us up. Truly. Thank you all ❤️
If nothing else comes from our personal experience with COVID-19, I hope everyone takes a moment to really take it as seriously as you can. Wash your hands, wear the masks, and get vaccinated when the opportunity arises. My amazing, hardworking, never sits still husband is still battling to regain his strength each and every day. He is 34 with no previous medical conditions. It can change the course of anyone’s life so fast. I know our life will never be the same. I thank the good Lord daily for having the opportunity to work through the new challenges we face. I have learned so much with essentially no help from his hospital in regards to giving injections, balancing medication and oxygen, staying healthy, eating better, and so much more.
I appreciate the life BJ has worked so hard to provide for our family. My business is being held together purely by the amazing rock star that is Mandy Ringbloom and the most amazing staff anyone could imagine. They have let me take this time to be present with him, my kids, and to support us in every way they can. Families from my Kinder Haus community drop off groceries, have cooked beautiful/ delicious meals, and volunteer their time to keep everything covered at school until I can return. My plan is to go back part time starting next week, but it has been such a beautiful thing to be allowed to be mentally and physically present with my family during this. My love goes out to everyone that has checked in and been a part of this. Thank you all ❤️
