Susan & Victor’s Story

Site created on December 9, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

To start: here is the rundown. Dad is living with:
Prostate and Spine cancer
Has had 2 heart attacks
1 stroke
Has diabetes and
Kidney disease.

He is such a hero! He has been living with most of these ailments for the past few years and has lived a wonderfully productive and active life.

He  entered the hospital for a few days last week where they determined that the cancer in his spine was painfully affecting his nerves. The plan of action was to administer a radiation treatment in order to shrink the tumors which would alleviate the pressure on his nerves and relieve the pain. He went home for a few days and came back to the hospital on Saturday morning  after having suffered a second heart attack, low blood pressure and kidney failure.

He is stable and somewhat coherent. At this point, his plight seems to be more of a marathon, than a sprint. The doctors are optimistic and are hopeful that he will make it back home after this stay in the hospital visit. We are very hopeful too!

It is a waiting game, at this point, that is both positive and slow.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and support. He is at Torrance Memorial, but we are not ready for visitors.

Birdie is such a Mensch. He donates regularly and loves to support members of his community and others.  It would make him smile and give him great joy if our community could make donations aimed at making this world a better place. Any size...any cause will do ...   Flowers and gifts are neither encouraged nor allowed in the ICU. Some suggestions... If you would like to  make donations in his honor:

The Michael J. Siver memorials fund
Michael Siver Scholarship Fund, 300 Hillcrest Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. Checks should be made out to Beth Tikvah

What a miraculous woman!

I'm not quite sure how she does it but mom is such a fighter. She graduated from both the ventilator and the ICU today ❤️ She is making eye contact and is trying to talk. Her vitals are stable and she is breathing on her own. So time will still tell but for today, there is good news and a possibility that she will recover from the last two weeks.

Keep sending your love, care and prayers. ❤️❤️❤️
