Hi Again everyone!
Surgery was successful, and I am back at home. You know I am doing well because my first day back I had lunch @ Loretta’s!
My brother has been working overtime making sure that I have everything I need to keep moving forward.
At this point my daily goals are to eat, breathe, exercise and sleep. Sleeping was the most elusive goal, but I’m starting to learn some tricks.
Surprisingly, there was little pain involved in the surgery, but laying in a hospital bed is pretty intolerable!
I miss seeing everyone, but probably have enough stamina now to invite folks over to say hello. I’m not sure how we’ll schedule stuff like that, and we’ll have to have some sort of protocols set up so that I don’t risk the new bits they sewed onto my heart.
As of tomorrow, I am two weeks out of surgery, so the critical danger zone will have passed, but it pays to be cautious!
Hi Everyone! Thank you for all the well-wishes :) it warms my heart to know that so many people are thinking about my best outcomes.
I will be in the hospital for about a week following the surgery, so I don't have any immediate needs right now, or probably until after next week.
After I get back and have things that I can't do for myself any more I will start sharing ways people can help to the extent that feels comfortable for themselves.
In the meantime, I'm hoping my brother can give updates about the stages of my recovery here in the journal.
Hi Bill! I'm out on medical leave through October 15th while I take care of my dad (whose name is also Bill) and am happy to help in any way that I can. Just reach out if you need help navigating the chaos of healthcare and Harborview!
