I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. My mom had a brain bleed in early 2019. Be patient and everyone’s recovery journey is different. Take care of yourselves and sending positive energy your way for comfort and strength. I will think of your ukulele lessons and hope that song brings healing.

Bill I felt your spirit when I introduced myself to You at the class. Gloria/Kumu is such an amazing teacher/dancer/singer/player.
It sounds like you are overcoming and strengthening in record time.
May Creator God Bless You In Every Way Possible.
I will continue to pray for You every day. Listening now to Keali'i Reichel. My favorite is HAPA.

Yesterday I got a chance to spend time with Uncle Bill And Auntie Gloria.
Bill is doing surprisingly well. He sang Mele Kalikimaka to me when I arrived. Actually we all sang it together. I was almost in tears. I was quite amazed how good he is looking, as he sat in his wheelchair. In the last photo I got from them, Bill's right arm had to be supported due to the lack of ability of movement in his right side, but he can now move his right arm. He proved it by throwing me the Shaka, with his right hand. Next goal, he is relearning the art of walking. He really has come a long way God Bless him.
His attitude is great and he's determined and working hard seeming to be achieving a lot of goals set. Perhaps a bit of his Hawaiian Stuborness pays off! LOL I admit I was pleasently surprised.
Gloria is very tired, as we can all imagine, but is working so hard with Bill and the therapist closely.. After official therapy, she continues Boot Camp with other interesting things, lomi lomi massages, dancing together while excercising Bill's upper strength.. And of course MUSIC! They are spending a lot of time playing board games which help challenge Bill physically and mentally. That's a good thing!
Unfortunately he didn't get to see my smile, as it was covered with a mask... however I did get to see his smiling face, and it was a large smile. 🙂 eyes gleaming and rosie cheeked. I warmed my heart to see him look so chipper and talk so well.
So, a good update from the Nahalea Ohana. And a supportive smile from me.
We spent some time talking about the new year. Future plans in regards to The Annual Kalama Heritage Festival and possible concert/tours arrangements as well. Both Bill and Gloria are hopeful for the plans to come about. Hopefully Covid will cooperate because there is work to be done!
They said they appreciate all the prayers and messages of Aloha from all of us and ask to still continue the prayer chain .. It's working. Aloha ~ Lea Mau Cook
