Dad's release from the hospital has been delayed until Sunday or Monday due to severe anemia. He had another blood transfusion yesterday which helped immensely. He was much more alert and enjoyed talking with Peggy, me, and all of the visiting nurses/aids. Joan and Meg Colwell visited in the morning, and our good friend and nurse Susan Schumacher (Bold) came just after lunch. Just before I left on Friday eve Dad was eating well and very excited about life & the prospects for going "home." It was incredibly encouraging that he was able to finally sit with his legs firmly on the ground instead of lying flat, and without hip pain. The doctor is hoping the anemia is related to an ulcer and will correct with time and treatment.
