Bill’s Story

On November 30, my dad suffered a massive Ischemic stroke. We aren't exactly sure how long  he was out on the ground in the garage, but Colleen found him when she went looking for him to get her morning kiss and hug. Family and friends came rushing in from all over the country. He lost function on his right side, his ability to walk, talk or understand. For an A-type personality who is always on the move, this was devastating. The prognosis was a good one at the beginning, the neurologist expected him to make a good recovery. Sadly, as time went on, overall things weren't healing as we had hoped. His stubbornness and overall "pain in the ass-ness" naturally never left. :). Along the way, he made steps forward, but they always seemed to be followed by two steps back. Each step back was a new low with is condition. Yet, we all remained hopeful. 
In March, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Cancer is never a good word. Yet, again somehow the prognosis was good. They were confident they could "burn" it out and he would be cancer free. The hope was that the cancer was the cause of why he wasn't improving. The got rid of the cancer like they said and we were able to declare him cancer free! Now would be the time to heal we had hoped, but his decline became rapid. 
So here we are, June 14 and we are waiting. Waiting for him to pass. I can't believe that is what I am saying. We can't believe it. He's 66 years young. This isn't supposed to happen. Death is coming to soon. We will do our best to keep you all posted. Thank you for all your prayers and love.
