Larry’s Story

Site created on January 26, 2020

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and support from our friends and family! God is truly at work here - thank you for the prayers, calls, videos and love!

Many of you have asked how you can support Larry and Vicki and how to best stay in touch. We’ll use this site to post updates, ask for help, share pictures and celebrate the life of Big Lar!

Under the “Ways to Help” tab, we’ve included a Go Fund Me page to help Larry and Vicki cover upcoming medical costs. We’ve also included a link to a Meal Train Page, which helps us organize those who would like to bring food. If you’d prefer to support via phone or email instead of these online tools, please reach out!

Journal entry by Kenzi Primus

Thank you so much for all of the cards, visits, food, calls, memorials and prayers!  It’s been a tough last month, but we focus on honoring Larry each and every day!  We are confident he’s smiling down on us and watching our every move!  :)

We invite you to join us for a blood drive in Larry’s honor.  Kenda’s church, Faith Lutheran in Lincoln, is hosting this event from 2:00-6:00pm on Monday, June 29th.   See details below, as well as Larry’s story.   Call 217-314-2782 to make an appointment.

Larry’s Story
Larry Huelskoetter was a Beason native, who had a love for life, farming, family, laughter and God.  His father started the family farm, where he was raised with his 3 siblings. He farmed alongside his father and purchased the farm to carry on the legacy. He and his wife, Vicki, raised their 2 kids on this same farm. They grew the business to include Huelskoetter Pork meat sales, which Larry was very proud of.  Besides farming, Larry loved the Chicago Cubs, Western movies and boating. Larry recently passed away after a short, but tough battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  He lost pints and pints of blood due to this disease, so we donate today in his honor.

Details of the Blood Drive
Only donors with appointments will be allowed to give, in order to strictly regulate the number of donors at one time, for social distancing, and each donor must wear a mask, along with the CICBC staff, to follow all the CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines to protect ourselves. We will only serve the individually packaged snacks and drinks provided by CICBC.  A sign up sheet will be on the bulletin board on Sunday, June 14, 2020, (when we can finally return to church after 3 months of stay home, stay safe COVID-19 safety guidelines) for callers, escorts, kitchen help,  advertising, and help to set up and take down equipment.  Let's make this Blood Drive our best one yet, as there is a great need for blood, not only for people with chronic illnesses who constantly need blood, but now that elective surgery is being performed again, even more blood is needed.
