Had the final conference for dad today!! He gets to come home on Thursday! He will have been in the hospital for 25 days! We are all so excited to have him home.  Will have quite a bit of outpatient therapy to continue to get his strength back, but otherwise he's doing amazing! Mom is still non weight bearing on her right arm and left leg. She's doing great  getting around.  We are so blessed 🙌

Hi!!

We had a conference today with dad's care team and it sounds like he could potentially be discharged to home next week Thursday!!!!! He is doing SO well! He will require outpatient therapy for quite awhile to continue helping him gain his strength and independence.

Dad was moved to Rehab today! One step closer to home! We are anticipating at least 2 weeks with inpatient rehab. He had an ultrasound done on his surgical leg and they did find a blood clot. The doctor wasn't overly surprised or concerned, but they are going to increase his blood thinner medication.  All of his therapy will start tomorrow and will consist of  3 hours of therapy per day. We anticipate this is going to wear him out!  Mom is doing great at home and has a follow up appt with her orthopedic surgeon tomorrow morning. We are very fortunate to have some family friends in town for the week to help with mom so I can work and sit with dad to keep him company. Again, big thanks to everyone for the food, the visits, the prayers, etc!

Happy Saturday!

Afton, mom, and I are in Dad's  room. When we got here PT was working with him and he walked about 25 feet with his walker! They said he went way further then they would expect of him at this point! He continues to make great progress each and every day! He definitely has his sense of humor back and blessing us with all his dad jokes 😆!

Hi!!

No new updates on mom, she's doing great at home!

I sat with Dad today and he had made huge strides since I saw him on Tuesday. He has much more fine motor control and muscle strength! He was able to even walk around for a short while! It was amazing to see such big progress.  It sounds like he will be transferred to Rehab on Monday!

Good evening!

Mom had a really good night. It was great to have her home! She hung out with Kathy today while I worked part of the day. We are so thankful for all the help anyone is able to provide!

Dad is making progress and getting stronger each day. He was able to get rid of his chest tube today! He is finally "tube" free! PT has been working with him and helped him stand today. He is still quite weak, but we notice big changes in him every day.  Pain team met with him yesterday and they changed around some of medications which has really helped control his pain.  He will most likely transfer to Rehab next week!

Hi there!

Mom gets to break out of here today! We are so proud of how hard she's worked to get her strength up. She's having a hard time leaving dad here. We will make sure she gets time to see him ❤.

Dad is doing well. He is in quite a bit of pain. He is now only connected to his chest tube, which we're hoping comes out soon. I stayed with him last night, and it was hard to see him so uncomfortable.  He's still quite weak and relearning strength and coordination, but he's so much stronger already.  He's got quite a journey ahead of him. He's giving us some of his humor, which we're thankful for.  ❤. We are very thankful for everyone that has offered to help as well as the prayers being sent. We are so thankful.
