Benjamin’s Story

Site created on April 13, 2020

Last Friday, April 10th, our dad was found unresponsive on the floor of his home after a neighbor requested a welfare check. Dad had been sick with a cold or flu virus. He was sent to a local hospital where he was stabilized and transferred to another hospital for more specialized care.

As of today, he is unresponsive and intubated. He's opening his eyes only, but does not respond to directions. Since it's so early on, and he's having tests to determine what exactly is going on, we don't have a prognosis yet. So far it looks like an infection and severe electrolyte imbalance.

It's especially difficult because of Covid-19, we are not allowed to visit (although I'm working on that). I know my dad, and he would ask for prayers and well wishes for his recovery. I will try to post updates as I get them to keep family and friends updated. He is very private with certain things including his personal health, so I will continue to respect his wishes while ensuring his loved ones are informed of his progress.

We love you all,
Amanda and Elizabeth

Hello,

I have had a few family members ask if there is anything they can do for us since dad's passing. My sister mentioned that dad donated regularly to a charity called the Union Gospel Mission which helps provide food, clothing, and shelter for the homeless in our area.

If you would like to donate to this charity in dad's honor, you can visit the website below:

Thank you!
