Ben’s Story

Site created on January 28, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement and hope, your support, and your love.  Thank you for being with us on this journey.

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Ben had a stroke at home and was transported by ambulance to St. Jude's Medical Hospital in Fullerton, CA.   His blood pressure was low and heart beats weak and irregular.   It was discovered, through CT scans and MRI, that he had cerebral artery stenosis (blocked artery); the same disease he had in 2016 that required implanting a stent in the blocked cranial artery.  A second stent was implanted on Thursday, January 28,  and a Pacemaker to regulate his heart beats.  He is recovering well and vitals are returning to normal levels.

May God bless you all,
Lori, Ben, Tina and family

He’s Home!
Ben was released from the hospital yesterday and is doing well.  He stayed in bed most of the afternoon and at dinner time, he wanted to go to the kitchen, so I preset his walker at the top of the stairs (5 steps from ground level to the main floor) and he held on to the railings on both sides while walking up, while I followed behind hanging on to his safety belt.  We had dinner and then went back downstairs to watch TV for about an hour and was ready to settle for the night.  From the time we arrived at home, he refused to ask me for assistance and insists he can walk to the bathroom by himself.  I watched him a couple of times and he's ok.
BUT when I was half asleep around 4am, I heard him get up.  When he didn't return after 30 mins, I got up and found him in the kitchen watching TV.  He went up the stairs by himself!!!🤨Yikes!!!  No wonder they had to restrain him to the hospital bed.  I warned him I would do the same or tie his feet together.
Otherwise, all is well.  He is getting stronger.

Your prayers are working miracles.  God is awesome!!  Thank you for your support and love.  God bless you all.  Our hearts overflow with love for all of you.

Aloha,
Lori & Ben
