Journal entry by Becky Taylor —
Good morning,
I keep (gently when needed) pushing forward.
My colorectal appointment on Monday left me with very limited options:
1) Botox and exparel again pending insurance—will get this on the books I think
2) An “advancement flap”—hard pass, they use healthy tissue to help facilitate healing over the fissure
3) “sit tight”—its been six months and “sitting tight” is the reason I am in this mess 🤣
It was odd though, because the resident with the surgeon said that HER MOM, has Interstitial cystitis (without Hunner’s ulcers).
I have been given an appointment for an instill tomorrow afternoon. The PA who will do the procedure is in my urologist’s office and I know her pretty well. She is the “kidney stone expert” there, too.
The financial assistance office at the U is trying to help me arrange a care plan that I can get approved (the bladder cocktail they use, DMSO, is $2100 for the medicine alone). Secondary insurance is going to be expensive.
My physical therapist’s office got a few payments pulled back from my previous primary insurance, which I now owe. At the U, the physical therapist visits there are so difficult to get into. I have two appointments scheduled in December. That is good, but a huge difference from 2x a week.
But slow and steady wins the race, right?
Thank you to everyone who has been following the debacle that is my health and healthcare.
I have had some mental blocks with motivation. With my depression, pain, illness, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD, I know I should probably be on some medication but I’m trying my best to eliminate as many as I can. I meet with my psychiatrist next week.
Also, I will try to follow-up with my PCP, because, of course.
Good vibes and God Bless,
Becky
