Katie, I knew you were strong when I met you. Now I know you are super strong. I am thinking of you and Bart and, though I don’t pray, I am doing the atheist’s version for Bart.

Katie, I know your dad, who (as you know) is a wonderful person. My wife and I have had cancer touch our lives over the last few years. No one, especially a young person, should have to face such a challenge. I wish you and Bart peace, love, and healing.

Damn, Katie. You are a phenomenal writer- not to mention human, friend, partner, and caregiver. Thank you for sharing all of this so openly and honestly and eloquently. I want you guys to know Malcolm and I are following your journey intently and are here. Bart and Katie, Wow. It's hard to put in to words how beautiful your story is, and how amazing it is to see your beautiful positivity. But I wouldn't expect anything less than that from Bart.

This journey you are on will be one of the hardest things you'll ever have to go through in your life. But just know that you're not alone in this. Not only do you have such amazing support from your community, family, and friends, you've also got lots of support from people like me, a friend that has been through this ugly fight with cancer before. Katie, I don't know you, but if you ever need someone to sound off to, or help you through the weirdness that is being a caretaker, I would love to be there for you. You guys are both fighters. And you're so positive. You have to keep that up! I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
