Barb’s Story

My story of second round of TNBC (Triple Negative Breast Cancer) .... on Tuesday August 28, 2018 I got some news I probably wasn't ready to hear...you have stage 4 breast cancer, incurable....and then the doctor started in on what we could do.  Chemo and to continue to check the cancer progression ....or not!  And that we could try different chemo's if one did not work and I was willing to try more.  We asked questions like, could I get into a study and the answer was a regretful no, I was past the cut off age.  Operating and getting the cancer out of the many places it had invaded my body was out of the question too....it was just too far along.  He even thinks it could be in my brain but it was very small and we'd check that again later.  Right now we are focusing on getting my port put in and starting chemo next week.  So that's that!  I'm going to fight this will all I have and keep a smile on my face, like I always approach things.  With faith and a smile.  We set this care page up so that I could keep up with all of you, my family and friends who I love.  I may have days where I just may not feel up to talking on the phone or texting...and know I would love too, I just may not have the energy too.  So send me a note, say hi, tell me a funny joke, tell me a funny memory you have of us.  That will make me smile.  I will try to update my web page as much as I can.  I love you all!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Barb Turner

Hello friends and family, this is Laura ....with heavy heart my family and I wanted to let you each know that mom passed away peacefully late last night.  Sara and Aunt Roberta were there by her side.  We know mom was just waiting to make it to hospice, she kept asking in the hospital late last week if she were there yet, and she made it there (Glenn Arbor in Battle Creek) Friday afternoon.   The room and surroundings were beautiful.  Dad is hanging in there but the pain for him and all of us is almost unbearable.  We thank you for your prayers of peace and comfort.  We will be having a Celebration of Life for Barbara.  Riverside Country Club is where she wanted this last event for her.  Mom's wishes were for it to be a celebration and while we all know she never liked being the center of attention, please bring your fun, crazy and memorable memories of her in your lives to share.  We will update this page, the Shopper, Facebook, etc as we finalize the Celebration date and time.  There will be no funeral.  Expected date of the celebration of life will hopefully be late this week.  The obituary will be published by Henry Funeral Home.  Much love to you all, Laura, Tom and Sara.
