Newest Update

Journal entry by Christina Bell

Hi all,

I wanted to give everyone an update on Barbara. I just got off the phone with her.  She sounds very up-beat!

In December, Barbara moved in with friends (Bree and Jim) in the Lakeway area.  Bree and Jim have been taking wonderful care of Barbara, and at this point she anticipates she will be there at least two more months.  Her friends and family are all welcome to visit her here!  Her goal is to be able to live back on her own again, but in the meantime she would still love any and all company.  She misses all of her friends and family and still wants to be an active part of your lives.

Barbara had a new scan last week. They didn't have contrast on liver and lungs, but they did find a couple of new spots on her latest scan.  However, they are not sure this is cancer. It is concerning to see the new spots, though.

Right now she is in a wheel chair, but (you know Barbara) she is determined to be up and walking.  She is asking for prayers and support and believing for her that this is going to happen.

They are going to radiate the base of her brain where her backbone meets her brain.  She has pain in her mouth and jaw and they think the treatment will stop the progression and help alleviate the symptoms she is having.

The doctors are telling her that over the next two weeks her main issue will fatigue. (Starting Monday she will will have radiation every day for 5 days, a break for the weekend, then 5 days again.)

Finally, her book is in the process of being edited and then will be sent to formatting. After that it will be ready to be printed.  The title is, "Cancer Support Guide: 100 Ideas of How to Help Your Friends and Family."  She wants everyone to know that she would love help when it goes to ebook and print would appreciate everyone sharing it to your network.  More to come on this!

I have committed to Barbara that I will help her and Connie try to keep this page up to date.  In the meantime, we are asking for assistance.  In the tasks tab of this site, you can find up-coming doctor visits that Barbara needs transportation for.  If you are able to help, this would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks so much!

Christina
