Bailey’s Story

Site created on November 16, 2017

#baitacklesleukemia

Bailey began her journey Monday evening Nov. 13 at primary children's hospital. She was diagnosed with AML ( acute myeloid leukemia ). She had a double lumen port inserted during surgery Tuesday, also during the surgery she had blood marrow tested and a lumbar puncture to insert chemo in her spinal fluid. Wednesday was her first official day of Chemo and there was up and downs like there will be moving forward. Bailey will be in the hospital this time for about 30 days and then home for about 7 days and we repeat the process about 5 or 6 times.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Bailey Walker

Hi everyone!!
Wow, what a blast from the past on this website! Hopefully the notifications still work and everyone is able to see this. So much has changed since July 2018; I’ve graduated college, started my full time job, and got married (!!!).

On July 6th 2023, we officially pass the 5 year mark and that means I will finally be cancer free! Since my husband and I won’t be in Utah, my family isn’t hosting a party to celebrate. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t celebrating! Instead of a party, we think it would be fun for everyone to post throwbacks, selfies, cheers, or whatever you feel like tomorrow (July 6) with the #baitackleDleukemia to reflect, honor, and toast to the cancer free future. Feel free to post these wherever you’d like (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) We can’t wait to see all the posts and acknowledge this huge milestone 🤍
