Bailey’s Story

Site created on December 24, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Bailey had a snowboarding accident on Wednesday, December 23rd up in Northern Michigan. She was transported via ambulance to the McLaren ER in Petoskey where she was put on a breathing tube and had a CT scan. After some time, Bailey was transported via medivac to Sparrow in Lansing. As of Thursday morning, she hasn't woken up, but the medical staff have turned down her pain medications to see if that will prompt her to respond. Bailey is on a ventilator at 6 breaths per minute and she is breathing over it at 14-16 breaths per minute. She is in good hands, but she needs healing prayers of love and comfort.

Journal entry by Alys Long

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I probably should’ve written this yesterday given it was the one-year anniversary of that horrific day. I just wanted to acknowledge once again how blessed we are, how great our God is, and how fantastic my sweet Bay is doing! As you all know, she graduated from high school in June, she worked at an ice cream store all summer, and attended LCC this fall finishing her first semester with stellar grades! She’s also currently working at Michael’s and enjoying it during this busy holiday season.
Not sure how all of you will take this (some of you will likely call me nuts), but we are planning to head up north tomorrow afternoon. (Keep in mind we’ve been up skiing/snowboarding multiple times per year since she was 2!!) Bailey has received the all clear from her doctors, she will be taking a lesson (mainly for my peace of mind). I just want the instructor to tell me she looks great and her balance is perfect. She’s agreed to stay off any trails, and only do what she’s comfortable doing. I’m praying hard for a safe and fun trip. I’ve joked with many of my coworkers and family that I may end up in the lodge drinking alcohol from my own PTSD!😳 I will, however, say the same thing I’ve said multiple times a year ago, please hug those close to you, enjoy every moment with loved ones, and simply be present in those moments making wonderful memories. Hugs to you all, Merry Christmas, stay healthy and safe out there. I know Covid has taken its toll on many. Here’s to a wonderful 2022! Muwahh!❤️🙏🏼🥰🎄☀️
