Journal entry by Patty Baggett —
It's time again for an update. Steve had his annual appointment with Dr. Tabbara in early August. The visit was mostly a social event, since Dr. Hegazi copies Dr. Tabbara on all of Steve's lab work. It was a wonderful visit and Dr. Tabbara was clearly very pleased to see Steve doing so well. Reflecting on the visit later in the car, Steve reasoned that he probably does not get to see many patients doing so well after 3 years. It was a joyful event all around.
Yesterday Steve returned to Dr. Hegazi for his 3 month bloodwork, all his numbers looked good. We had previously been advised to get the flu shot when it became available and we had that done in September. Dr Hegazi advised we get the new COVID as soon as possible and then after a few weeks get the RSV. We arranged to get the COVID vaccination yesterday afternoon. We have orders for a CT scan in early January and an appointment with Dr Hegazi a week later.
We have been venturing out into groups of people and going to restaurants during off peak hours. It has been good to spend time with the people we have been missing. Steve even went into the grocery store alone this week and told me it felt very weird, but he has never been the primary grocery shopper, so that may be part of it ;-) Friends and family have been very attune to informing us if they are not feeling well and refraining from being around us, we are so grateful for their respect and understanding. We are rejoining the real world but trying to be smart about it. We are so very grateful to be spending more time with family and friends once again. September was filled with many joyful family gatherings and October has started with some fun social events.
Thank you for following our journey and keeping in touch.
