Baby’s Story

Site created on April 18, 2021

At 24 weeks into the pregnancy, Leah and Andrew found out that Leah has placental insufficiency, which is an uncommon but serious complication of pregnancy. It occurs when the placenta does not develop properly or is damaged. This condition is not usually considered life-threatening to the mother, but has high risks for the baby.

Hello Community!

I have good news. That being said, I start by saying that this will be our last posting.

Ellie had another growth checkup this week, and she was at 5lb 2oz (technically 5 and 1.8, but I’m rounding up since it was a few days ago). Her heart is strong, her jaundice is cleared, and her pediatrician thinks that at this rate she will gain a pound per week and a half. All signs point to a healthy baby.

So, with that prediction, we will close our time on caring bridge.

Over the course of our pregnancy, we have seen six OBGYN doctors, plus too many nurses and technicians to count, at four different clinics, at more than 25 appointments.

We have bent the ears of family, friends, coworkers, healthcare workers and total strangers. We have asked for help in big and small ways. We have relied upon others as we have never done so before.

And you answered with prayers, and listening, and comport, and acts of service we could never repay. We are grateful beyond measure.

May we be to you as you have been unto our family. With much love,

Andrew, Leah, and Ellie Wipf
